Lillian "Lil" Howenstine, 78, passed Thursday, June 30, 2016. Born in Kentucky, she was the daughter to the late, Mervin and Effie (Turner) Gillum. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church. Lil was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Lee Howenstine of Fort Wayne; five children, Lana (Dave) Ford and Rick (Carol) Howenstine both of Fishers, Randy (Dawn) Howenstine, Ron Howenstine and Amy (Ryan) Schiltz all of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren, Taryn (Ryan) Hart, Heidi (Tandy) DeNegre, Tyler (Melissa) Ford, Austin (Ashlee) Howenstine, Randi Howenstine, Taylor (Ivana) Howenstine, Lillie Schiltz, Libby Howenstine, Max and Ryder Schiltz; and 10 great grandchildren, Elly, "Baby Sister" due in August, Corbin, Mason, Madison, Easton, Emery, Owen, Jude, and Eve; sister, Garnet Graf of Indianapolis; brother, Bill Gillum of Florida.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jason Byerly will be officiating. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Parkinson''s Foundation and Visiting Nurse.
