Lorene Hodell, 97, passed peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2018.  Born in Butlerville, Ind., she was a daughter to the late Russell and Lola Eakins.   Lorene graduated from Hanover College with a BA in Education and then went on to further her education with a Masters of St. Frances's College.   She retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher with over 30 years of service.  She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma, F.W. Women's Club and also had volunteered at the Embassy.    She was a member of United Faith Presbyterian Church.  She loved the lake life with her family, was an avid reader, played the piano and she loved animals.

Lorene is survived by daughter, Victoria Hodell-Auld; granddaughters, Molly (Kenneth) Wittler, Emily (Christopher) Irmscher and Kelly (Brian) Gerster; 11 great grandchildren, Kyle (Malone) Wittler, Kandace (Alex) Ailshie, Kelly Wittler, Kurt Wittler, Macey Gerster, Lesley Gerster, Magan Irmscher, Maxwell Irmscher and Molly Irmscher; sister in law, Rhoda Eakins; and several nieces and nephews.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Robert, in 1995; brother, Russell Eakins; and a sister and her husband, Louise (Kenneth) Day.

Funeral Service is 1 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling starting at 11 a.m. till service.  She will be laid to rest at Lindenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial are to Rescue Mission, 301 West Superior St., Fort Wayne, IN  46802.
