Loretta Mae Babbitt, 89, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Ashton Creek Health & Rehab with her family by her side. Born in Waterford, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick William Sanders and Hazel Marie (Johnson) Sanders. She married the late, Francis A. Babbitt, on November 1, 1942; he died September of 2009; Loretta and Francis lived in Pennsylvania and California before settling in Fort Wayne to raise their family in 1959. She worked and retired from K-Mart after 27 years of service.

Loretta is survived by sons, Richard (Linda) Babbitt of Anderson and Ron (Terry) Babbitt of Fort Wayne; brother, Ray Sanders of Edinboro, Pennsylvania; her pride and joy 4 grandchildren, Kristen (Doug) Pickelheimer, Amy Portee, Robert (Jennifer) Babbitt and Jennifer (Tom) Brookshire; and 11 great grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Kristopher, Cindy, Andre, Ravante, Tory, Harley, Maria, Maximilian and Nikki; and the first great great granddaughter to be born this month, Aubrianne.

Loretta was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Ward; brother, Gerald Sanders; and her grandson, James Babbitt, 2014.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. Officiating will be Pastor Jerome Bell. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
