Obituary

Lucius Banks, 79, of Ft. Wayne passed away April 9, 2022.  He was born May 3, 1942 in Uniontown, AL to Joseph and Cora Banks.

Following graduating from Perry County Training school in 1960, Lucius joined the U.S. Army, serving in Thailand and Fort Benjamin Harrison.  He married Sharon K. Taylor August 18, 1965 and had two children, Mark Anthony Banks (Kyra), and Stephanie Rachelle Schneider (Richard).  Lucius retired from Food Marketing after 35 years of service.  He played on Ft. Wayne's first semi-professional softball team, Ft. Wayne Scouts, as well as the Ft. Wayne Huggie Bears.  He loved fishing, hunting, watching horse racing and the Chicago Cubs baseball.

Lucius was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sharon K. Banks, on June 29, 2021.

In addition to his children, Lucius is survived by grandson, Bryan L. Meriwether, and granddaughter, Morgan N. Banks; sisters, Mamie Andrews, Cora Dixie; brothers, Willam (Dr. E. Sharon Banks) Tyrone, GA, James Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 15 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46804, with service to follow at 2:00pm.
