IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maggie Lou
Pyles
November 7, 1926 – December 2, 2023
Maggie Lou Pyles, was born on November 7, 1926. She passed away on December 2, 2023.
After a sudden decline in her health Maggie was 97 years of age.
She graduated from Tennessee State University with a degree in Business Education and
Graduated in 1978 with a Master's degree from Saint Francis University.
Our dear beloved Aunt was a dedicated teacher for 33 years. She started her career in Fort Wayne
Community Schools at Harmer Elementary School. She retired from Harrison Hill School after 33 years of teaching in this district. Her favorite saying to her students is, " the beautiful thing about education is that no one can take it from you."
Maggie met her husband Orton Pyles, who she was married for 25 years before Orton transitioned on January 3, 1983. Maggie's family grew with the number of children and adults she called family. She was a teacher, mom and aunt to many, who was loved by too many to name.
Retirement life fit Maggie like a glove. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and she could have been a news commentator. There wasn't a news topic she was not knowledgeable about.
Maggie Lou Pyles was predeceased by spouse William Orton Pyles, parents Nettie Payne and Cleveland Payne and Siblings, Jack Holt, Charles Payne, Cleveland Payne Jr., Robert Payne, Benjamin Payne, Thomas Payne, Anna Payne, Johnson Payne and JT Payne. Maggie Pyles is survived by Nieces, great nieces, and nephews. Also, many loyal friends and extended family members.
