Obituary

Marjorie Jo Culbertson, 73 lost her battle with Lymphoma on Wednesday February 21, 2018.  She was born in Decatur, IN to the late Glen H. and Modjeska A. Neuenschwander.  Marjorie was a member of the Wallen Baptist Church and Bethel United Methodist Church. Don Roth, Marjorie's home pastor and longtime friend, wrote: Marjorie was an amazing person. She was energetic, creative, loving and passionate. She honored her parents, loved her husband, valued her siblings and delighted in her family. She was superb in every one of her relationships. Above all else, she was wholly committed to her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. In short, she excelled in loving, serving and relating! Her maturity, commitment and spontaneity endeared her to all of us. She truly exemplified and glorified her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Never one to know a stranger, I can easily imagine her talking to and laughing with Billy Graham (who died the same day as Marjorie). That is classic Marjorie. She is now "safe" in the arms of Jesus."  Marjorie had a Masters Degree in Nursing and Education.  She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, and international Honor Society of Nursing. She worked with Visiting Nurse, Logan Psychiatric Hospital and many other hospitals and universities.  Marjorie sang in the choir for the Bach Collegiam and played the piano and clarinet. Marjorie played tennis up to four times a week. She was Captain of the Senior Women's Tennis Team. She was very competitive and excelled in a number of activities. She and her husband traveled extensively, going to Hawaii, England, Ireland, Europe, and returning to Africa for the 50 th . Anniversary of the hospital where she had taught in many years ago. The students she had taught Nursing to were the heads of the various departments. She spoke fluent French and Tshiluba (an African dialect) and had a burden to help international women. Her passion was working with women from all over the world at International House, a place where women could learn English, sew, knit, etc. The family wants to thank the personnel at Visiting Nurse Hospice and Dupont Hospital for the excellent care and concern they gave Marjorie, her family and friends. They made a very difficult time more palatable.

Surviving is her husband of 31 years Daniel Culbertson, sons, David (Marta) and Ryan (Savannah) Culbertson, grandchildren Garrett, Grant, Ryan Jr., Stella Rose, siblings Carol (Jerry) Wisler, Ron (Brenda) Neuenschwander and step brother Terry (Lisa Miliczky.
