Marlene Dietrich Gomez, 85, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Mulberry, IN to the late Charles Messner and Lillian Mae (Dietrich) Carr. Marlene married Joseph Romero more than 60 years ago in Huntington, IN and he survives. She worked for International Harvester for 30 years, before retiring. In her retirement, she was able to serve her community by working for the Wayne Township Trustee's office. Marlene attended Emmaus Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, IN. She enjoyed playing softball, the beach, traveling with her family and Diet Cherry Coke. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her children, Bridget Bell, Bernard Gomez, Corrine Gomez, Tony (Susan) Gomez; brother, Danny (Ann) Carr; ten grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her devoted chihuahua, Boss. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Friday, December 2, 2022 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Township Trustee. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens.
