Mary Elizabeth Bird, 101, passed Wednesday, October 16, 2019 with her daughter and son in-law by her side.  Born in Parker, she was a daughter to the late Nathan Anderson Jones and Fanny B. (Snodgrass) Jones.  She was a former member of the Simpson United Methodist Church (77 years), The Women's Association, Lutheran Health Services; and most importantly, Mary was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapters #512 and #576 Trinity Chapter. Mary duties included, secretary Star of East over 25 years, bridge club member, as well as cheer committee. Mary belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 75 years.

Mary is survived by her only daughter and son in law, Nancy and Stephen Wallace of Fort Wayne; nephews and nieces, Alan (Sandy) Ayers, Joyce (Don) Roudebush, Donald (Judy) Harris, Paul (Becky) Harris, Mary Jo (John) Sgro and Judith Owens; and several great nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Edmund A. Bird, in 1974; and sisters, Alma Ayers and Dorothy Taylor.

Funeral Service is 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior.  Officiating will be Pastor Reed Lessing.  Calling is also 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the funeral home with an Order of The Easter Star service at 7:30pm.  She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of NE Indiana or St Michael's Lutheran Church.
