Covington Memorial Funeral Home
1:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Melody Ann McCormick, 66, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Melody was born on February 20, 1960, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Gus and Betty (Kiger) Adkisson. Following her graduation from Elmhurst High School, she worked in many office settings, before transitioning to Director of Food and Beverage at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne. She retired in 2022 as Operations Manager at AVI Food Systems in Warsaw.
Melody loved sunshine, the beach, and being near the water. Whether she was relaxing by the ocean in Florida or enjoying time at Loon Lake, she always found joy and peace by the water's edge. She cherished the many lifelong friendships she cultivated over the years and was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others whenever she could.
A dedicated volunteer with Clothes for Joes, Melody had a special place in her heart for veterans and devoted countless hours to supporting their needs. Her son, Mo, was the center of her world. She worked tirelessly to encourage and support him in every endeavor, taking great pride in his accomplishments.
Melody also enjoyed country music, especially artists such as Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, and she adored her beloved boxer dogs. Following her diagnosis, she became dedicated to raising awareness about stage IV breast cancer, the urgent need for more research, and the unique challenges faced by those living with the terminal diagnosis.
She is survived by her son, Mo (Emily) Qadri; her sister, Linda (Mark) Loftus; and many dear friends and family whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.
She was preceded in death by her former spouse, Shane Qadri, her loving husband, Corey McCormick, as well as her parents, Gus and Betty Adkisson and brother, David Adkisson.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Clothes for Joes or the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Melody's honor.
