MELVIN LLOYD WALLACE ALDRIDGE, 89 December 4,
1931-March 7, 2021
Melvin L. Aldridge passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Majestic
Healthcare Hospice, New Haven. He was 89.
Melvin was born December 4, 1931, to Henry and Pearl Aldridge, in
Detroit, Michigan.
Mel proudly served in The Korean War (1950-1953) as a member of
The United States Air Force.
Upon his return, Mel attended Wayne State University, where he
majored in Electronics and Communication.
Mel was a gifted DJ and was the host of several popular radio shows
in Detroit and Sarasota, Florida.
He spent many years as an engineer at WANE TV, Fort Wayne, and
used his love of electronics in many projects.
He devoted many years to The Korean War Veterans Association and
was a proud member of The Quiet Warriors of Fort Wayne. Mel
completed the prestigious Honor Flight in 2017. He was also a
longtime member of The Goldwings Motorcycle Club and traveled
extensively with them.
He was a member of The Chapel.
Mel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan.
Mel was the proud father to six daughters.
They include: Janice Aldridge-Clark, of Indianapolis, Beth Wagner
(Gary), of Charleston, South Carolina, Patricia Sapp (Michael), of
North Scottsdale, Arizona, Jacqueline, of Fort Wayne, Brenda
Schaefer, of Evansville, and Karen (Jon) of Huntertown. He has 12
grandchildren: Allison, Will, Brianna, Sam, Maddy, Stephanie, Brandt,
Skylar, Milena, Nick, Drew, Katie, Matthew  and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, 2021, at 1pm at
Covington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with calling at 11:00 am.
