Obituary

Merlin Lester Adams, 69, of Monroeville, died on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Decatur, he was the son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Spaulding) Adams. He served his country in the U.S. Air force during Vietnam. He was also a member of V.F.W. 2457, American Legion 420, and a former member of the Navy Club. He retired from Dana in 1995 and was the owner and operator of Merl''s Tavern in Monroeville.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy Adams; children, Doug Adams of Laporte, Diane Adams, Jody (Todd) Carney both of Fort Wayne, Jill Cheviron of Indianapolis, Steve (Renata) Schrock of Los Angeles; sisters, Kay (Jim) Galligher, Ava (Phil) Meyer both of Monroeville and Naomi (Dick) Hoeppner of Woodburn; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Seiger.
Funeral Service is 11 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also 2 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial are to the Monroeville Volunteer E.M.S.
