Michael J. Burge, 69, of Ft. Wayne, IN, formerly of Kankakee, Ill, passed away on January 5, 2025, at home.

He was born March 7, 1955, a son of the late James and Barbara (Stilley) Burge in El Paso, TX.

He graduated in 1973 from East Ridge High. Michael worked at GM for over 34 years before his retirement. He married Julianne on June 10, 1985, and shared 31 years of marriage together before her passing.

In his spare time, he enjoyed karate, being outdoors, shooting pool, fishing and his grandchildren.

He is survived by children, Michael S. (Christina) Burge of Clevland, TN, Megan (Mitch) Warthen of Bourbonnais, Ill, Jessica (Trent) Post of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Matthew Burge of Roanoke, IN; grandchildren, Rylin Warthen, Gavin Warthen, Owen Post, Gracelyn Post; brothers, Larry (Mylene), Herb, Andy (Becky), and Chris (Angela) Burge; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Julie, his stepmother, Clara and his grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, January 13, 2025, with calling two hours prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46804.
