Mildred O. Land 90 passed away Saturday November 27, 2010 at Covington Manor Health and Rehab. Born to the late Arnold and Olive Thomas in Haydenville, Ohio she worked for J.C. Penny in Alaska, Florida and Ft. Wayne. She also worked at the University of Tampa in administration for 5 years. She was Past President of NCO Wives Club and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary. She was also a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Surviving are sons, Clifford (Carol) Mason, Ft. Wayne, Walter (Loretta) Land, Alaska, daughter, Linda Giles, Ft. Wayne, brother, Donald (Angie) Thomas, New Jersey, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, step-son, Jerry, step-daughter, Carolyn and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Patrick Giles, brothers, Gerald and John Thomas, sister, Doris Springer, stepson, Steve. Services are 11a.m. Thursday December 2 at the Bethany Lutheran Church 2435 Engle Rd. Ft. Wayne with calling 30 minutes prior to service. Pastor Chad Trouten officiating. There is also calling Wednesday 2-6 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Preferred Memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
