Obituary

Mildred L. "Sally" (Beer) Sadler, Sally Sadler, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 28, 2023.  Sally was born on a farm in Monroe Township, Adams County, Indiana to Elmer and Lena (Dick) Beer on March 14, 1927.  She graduated from Monroe High School in 1945 and worked for GE in Decatur and Fort Wayne.  On August 1, 1948, she married her childhood friend and one-room schoolhouse classmate, Raymond Sadler.  They moved to Fort Wayne, where Sally lived until her death.  Sally retired from the Fort Wayne Community Schools after serving as Secretary at Lakeside Middle School for many years.

Throughout her life, Sally devoted herself to family and surrounded herself with lasting friendships.  She possessed a deep faith in her Savior and was active in the church throughout her life.  She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.  Her greatest joys were caring for her family, gathering with friends, fussing over babies, and preparing meals for all who dropped by.

Sally and Ray celebrated their 75th anniversary this past summer.  During her final years, the love of Sally and Ray continued to grow as Ray gave her tender, compassionate care that enabled Sally to enjoy life despite declining health.

Sally is survived by her husband, Ray, children Ted (Julie) of Fort Wayne, Neal (Carolyn) of Medina, Ohio and Jill (Gregg) Francisco of Cicero, Indiana, grandchildren Nathan (Katelyn) Sadler of Richmond, Vermont, Ashley (Kyle) Harding of Chicago, Illinois, Emily (Carter) McCrea of Niles, Michigan, Deborah Sadler of Townshend, Vermont, and Luke Francisco of Ann Arbor, Michigan and 6 great-grandchildren, Fionnula, Hannah, Samuel, Anna, Caroline and Beau, and sister Janet Pfeffer of Lagrange, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by her sister Delores Presdorf and brother Loren Beer.
