Naoma Beth (Harrell) Walter, 89, passed Saturday, October 24, 2015, living her years in full. Born October 21, 1926 in Pampa. Texas, beloved only daughter with four brothers, she was affectionately called "Sister." She met the love of her life at church, the late, Robert W. Walter, in 1945 and after a two month courtship they were married for 67 1/2 years until his death, in 2013. He was in the USAF and she became a military bride. Through their travels they became youth ministers in church and forged lifelong friendships. They realized their dreams of parenthood in 1960 and 62 respectively when they adopted a son and daughter. When Bob retired from the Air Force, he got a job in Fort Wayne, in 1969. They built their family home where they have resided until her death. Through the years there were many ups and downs, one of the roughest patches was her son, the late, Scott being diagnosed with mental illness, in 1979. But from great adversity comes great strength, as this faithful, devoted woman exhibited throughout her many years. Then a grandson, Paul came in December, 1980. He saved us all. Through caring for her family her church and her community, she kept going. Aside from her church, she also became involved in Alliance for the Mentally Ill during which time one of their accomplishments was implementing a Crisis Intervention Team with Allen County Sherriff''s Dept. She was also an advocate for the elderly and infirmed with Aging and In Home Services and her love of kids led her to Study Connection.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her especially her devoted grandson, Paul; and daughter, Jana Moreno; and a host of nieces and nephews, those of whom on the Walter side affectionately called her "Aunt Texie" (they are from Ohio).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Walter; son, Scott E. Walter, in 2010; and four brothers.
