Ned Sterling Cox Jr., 73, previously of Muncie, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Fort Wayne, at home with his loving family.

In his younger years, his parents owned and operated Cox Greenhouse, which Ned helped with for several years. He was a Heavy Operator Engineer, of which he retired from after over 30 years of service. Ned enjoyed model trains in his spare time as well as working on his truck and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joan Cox; daughter, Shawn M. (Chris) Wakeland New Haven, IN; sons, Chris Cox of Muncie, IN and Ned (Ariel) Cox III of Ft. Wayne, IN, Elizabeth Beaty; stepdaughter, Cynthia Pike; grandchildren, Derek (Cori) Beaty, Allyson Beaty, Anna and Shelby Cumings, Amber Lynn (Jack) Derbyshire and Billie Jo Pike; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Dylan (Lexie), and Christopher Wakeland; two great-grandchildren, Aliyah Russell and Jaryn Beaty; and the mother of his children, Pat Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned S. Cox Sr. and Alice (Shoopmon) Cox; brother Michael Lee Cox; grandparents, Floyd and Lona Shoopmon and Glen and Madonna Cox; as well as several aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
