Norma Lou Bird, 80, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Heritage Park. Born in Decatur, she was the daughter of the late, Raymond and Verona (McClymonds) Venis. She was a homemaker for her five children and her late husband.

She is survived by children, Jerry (Renee) of St Joe, Karen (Jeffrey) Palmer, Lynn (Christina) Bird and Douglas (Leslie) Bird all of Fort Wayne; sister, Virginia, Chronister of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Dale D. Bird, on March 26, 2001; a son, Lester Bird, in 2002; brother, Raymond Venis; and two sisters, Donna Rothgeb and Phyllis Gase.

Funeral service is 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 28 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to service. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Parkview Hospice.
