Pastor Larry Lee Baughman, 75, passed Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Glenny and Thelma Elizabeth (Sowers) Baughman. Larry proudly served his country in the Navy and retired from International Harvester. In his retirement he was the property manager for Baughman Rentals. Larry was a Pastor of First Spanish Baptist Church for 22 years and recently was an active member and song leader of Friendship Baptist Church, in Marion. He would also accompany the pastor on Wednesday Visitations.
He would also accompany the pastor/friend on Wednesday Visitations. Larry loved worshipping the Lord. Telling people how great Jesus is. When he sang he always had a smile on his face, loved joking around in choir. The children adored him for his funny cartoon voices; Larry was a big kid at heart. Larry enjoyed riding his Harley every chance he had. No one was a stranger to him. He would help anyone. Larry enjoyed his time in fellowship with his family and church family especially spending time with his wife Laretta Faye.
He is survived by his second wife of 12 years, Laretta Faye (Caudill) Baughman; children, Don Baughman, Ann (Christopher) Ross, Marilee Pinkleton, Dean (Lori) Pinkleton, Bonnie (Jeff) Tinsley, Darla Kay (Doug) Turner and Teresa Ann Pinkleton; siblings, Millie (Charles) Cole, Dottie Mack and Mary Lou (Tom) Woodward; many loved and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary L. Baughman, in 2005; brothers, Robert, Charles, Glen Jr. Baughman; and sisters, Betty Gibertson and Evelyn Schweigel.
Service is 1:30p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road with calling starting at 10 a.m., till service time. Pastor Bruce Koontz will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Friendship Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Dinner will be 3-5 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1921 W. Spencer Ave., Marion.
