Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2012. A grandson Curt Fogle; A daughter Diane Fogwell, and son-in-law Sam Fogwell.
She lived her life in service to others. She was intelligent, virtuous, and strong. She was admired for her thoughtfulness and resilience. She gave to her family and others selflessly. She was there for her family, neighbors, stray animals and even homebound strangers who needed assistance as she volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Columbia City during her retirement years. Her entire family benefited from her generosity, as well as her enjoyment of sweepstake contests! She enjoyed many sports and could talk Cubs baseball, and IU basketball with anyone. She could cook, bait a hook, and she was handy enough to help her husband with his wood-working hobby. She was a vocal supporter watching her kids, in-laws, neighborhood kids, grandkids and even great-grandkids ballgames.
She was a great listener, she loved the outdoors, nature, and her many dogs – (most of whom seemed to be named "Sniff").
She could whip up a stack of pancakes for all the grandkids (and their friends) on a moment's notice. We never seemed to run out of floaties, wiffle-balls, or ice-cream treats at the lake - all because of her. And we all looked forward to her homemade fudge, cookies, and new socks at Christmas time. She found joy in giving, moreso than receiving. She found joy in simple things, especially having her family around and her family loved her dearly. She was a consistent, humble example to us all. She was a true example of Christian, self-less love . Trips to the lake will never be the same, and its assumed we will always think that we should buy a new magnet for Grandma's fridge any time we travel.. We will all take with us many great memories. More importantly, we will take with us a great example of a life lived in love and the humble service of others.
Private graveside services were held at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Donor's Choice. The family would appreciate your prayers. www.covingtonmemorial.com
