Patsy Sue Cox, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Wayne, IN on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Born December 21, 1940, in Lima, OH to William Clifford and Ethelyn (Wadsworth) Cunningham, who preceded her in death.
Patsy is survived by her children, Brenda (Keith) Mensing of Columbus, Ohio; Jennifer (Tony) Waters of Dahlonega, Georgia; Catherine (Sean) Silvers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Diane (David) Sharp of Kendallville, Indiana; John (Virginia) Cox of Leesburg, Indiana; and Colton McKinley of Portage, Michigan. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, her brother, David Cunningham of Lima, Ohio; her sister, Becky (Sherrell) Queen of Lindon, Utah; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, George Theobald and Roy Cox; her son, Rick (Vicky) Theobald; her brother, Don (Pauline) Cunningham; her sister, Jayne Kisor; and her sister-in-law, Dawn Cunningham.
Patsy worked for Standard Oil in Lima before moving to Fort Wayne. She retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools Anthis Career Center where she assisted in teaching Culinary Arts. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she played the organ for over 40 years. She was also a temple worker at Chicago and Indianapolis temples for over 20 years. She will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, devotion to her family, love of flowers, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens.
