Paul G. "Porky" Steinbacher, 88, died Saturday, March 14, 2015. The Fort Wayne native was born to the late, Floyd and Theresa Steinbacher. Paul proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII; he was a member of the American legion Post 82 and the Moose Lodge. He retired from Harvester after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; son, Steven (Sharon) of New Haven; daughter, Dawn (Scott) Smiley of Fort Wayne; sister, Jean Forst; 4 grandchildren, Derek Smiley, Jerrod, Kayla and Audree Steinbacher; and 4 great grandchildren, Cohen, Rhys, Savannah and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Jane Korte and Bonnie Markland.

Funeral Service is 2 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Wounded Warriors Project.
