Philip W. Slater, 82, died Thursday March 28, 2013. He was born November 14, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Ward and Laura Slater. Philip was a truck driver for the Kroger Corporation for 47 years and Business Agent for Teamsters Local 414. He was a WW II Marine Corp. veteran and a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Madalene Slater, son, Todd (Nancy) Slater, granddaughters Sarah and Laura Slater. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Lynn Slater, 3 brothers, Oliver, Stanley, Laurie Slater.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with calling 30 minutes prior to service. There will be calling Monday April 1 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United State Marine Corp and American Legion Post #241 Waynedale. Preferred Memorials to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home or Waynedale United Methodist Church.
