Phillip Gene Saine, Sr.  passed away in Fort Wayne, Indiana, September 26, 2022.  He was born March 26, 1929 in Peru, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Eloise (Krick) Saine, his parents Lewis Melvin Saine and Ruth Lucile (Sampson) Saine along with three brothers George Albert Saine, Frank Lloyd Saine and Ralph Leolin Saine.  A sister Carolyn Sue (Saine) Knepper survives along with his children Phillip Gene Saine Jr (Linda), Daniel Lee Saine (Laura) Jeffery David Saine (Vicki) and Mark Patrick Saine (Louann).  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.


During his career he served from 1950 to 1984 in the US Air Force and Air National Guard (122 Tactical Fighter Wing), being called into active duty numerous times, most notably the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the Tillman Road Church of God.


Covington Memorial Funeral Home is providing services with viewing at 10:00 AM and the funeral at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022  Burial will be immediately after the funeral at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The services will be presided over by Reverends Cliff Black and Bill Bradley.
