Ralph W. Burgess, 96, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014. Ralph was born September 24, 1917 in Doland, SD to the late Alva and Sarah Burgess. He was in maintenance and custodial work most of his life. He attended The Chapel and was a WWII Marine Veteran. His passions were history, biography, bowling, and he was a participant in "Lapper Walk" for Cancer Services of N.E. Indiana and active in The League for the Blind.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Burgess; children, Bryce (Sue) Burgess, Sarah (Jack) Hawkins, Erick Burgess, Melissa Burgess; 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Matt, Kristine, Mitchell, Ryan and 1 great-grandson, Carter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Burgess, in 1967.

Service is 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 31, 2014 at The Chapel 2505 W. Hamilton Rd. South with calling 1 hour prior to service. There will be calling 5-8 p.m. Wednesday July 30, 2014 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to The League for the Blind or The Chapel.
