Ralph E. Lesh, 89, died 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Hospice Home with his family at his side. He was born January 30, 1921 in Fort Wayne. He was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Navy Air Force from 1938 to 1945. He was a Police Officer in California for a number of years before returning to Indiana. He retired from Dana Corp. in Columbia City in 1986. He drove his Harley Davidson Motorcycle well into his later years. He was an avid animal and nature lover. He spent a great time building fences and planting trees. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis; daughters, Linda (Rick) Hartley of Roanoke, Patricia (Dean) Hartley of Huntington; son, Randall E. Lesh of Huntington; brother, Robert Lesh of Versailles, KY; sisters, Betty Baron and Maxine Mudrack both of Fort Wayne; four granddaughters; and one grandson; many loved nieces, nephews dear friends and his pet dog, Winston. He is preceded in death by his two brothers; one sister; parents, Clarence and Edna Lesh; and his grandparents, Adam and Edith Henline. Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also 4 - 8 p.m., Friday at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Huntington Humane Shelter or Black Pine Animal Compound, Albion, IN.
