Ramona Linda Hernandez, 58, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on January 24, 1959. Mona graduated from North Side High School in 1977. She was married to Jose Gramajo on December 3, 2010.
Mona lived her dream on the Rio Verde Ranch. Rising with the sun each morning, she took joy in caring for and riding her horses Cash and Summer. She loved being outdoors, traveling and gathering with family and friends to play games.
Our time with Mona was a gift. She was the life of the party wherever she went. She had a talent for making everything more fun, and we were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her: every day is an adventure, the best things in life are free, and the more, the merrier. Most importantly, she was strong and independent and had the courage to pursue her dreams and encouraged everyone to do the same.
Mona is survived by her husband, Jose Gramajo; three children: Dominic Hunley, Sofia (Sean) Hargrow and Danielle Hunley; stepson: Emilio Gramajo; five grandchildren: Monique, Sofia, Lilyana, Saige and Se''ana; siblings: Carmen (Rudy) Lewis, Victoria Hernandez, Delia Falk and Steven Hernandez; and sister-in-law Barb Hernandez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anselmo and Mary Hernandez, and brother, John Hernandez.
Mona's life will be celebrated with a service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Viewing is also 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials are to the family to help with expenses.
