Raul Rodriguez Gonzalez, 79, of Fort Wayne passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home with family at his side. Born in Marin, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he was the son of the late Cruz and Maria de la Luz Rodriguez. He retired from the City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department after 25 years. He was an amateur boxing coach throughout Indiana and a professional boxing trainer. He enjoyed carpentry, and horseback riding.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernarda (Lima del Cid) Rodriguez; children, Raul, Jr. (Lisa) Rodriguez, Radamez Rodriguez, Raquel Foster, Roman (Maria Concepcion) Rodriguez, and Ruby (Craig) Teetsel; and brother Ramiro Rodriguez, all of Fort Wayne. Also surviving, a sister of Laredo, Texas, four sisters and two brothers of Monterrey, Mexico, nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandduaghter. He is preceeded in death by a brother, Rogelio Rodriguez of Fort Wayne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Avenue, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. with Fr. Tim Wrozek officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
