Raymond Charles Pelz, 84, died Saturday, June 22, 2019.  Born in Fort Wayne, he was the only child to the late Raymond Merle Pelz and Mildred F. Pelz.  He was in the National Guard for over 10 years serving during the Berlin Crisis.  Raymond was a retired truck driver driving for Helms Trucking, Kroger, Essex Wire and Lowes.  Raymond was a man of God passing the values along to his family. He attended Waynedale Baptist Church, was a member of Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene and currently attended Fort Wayne Trinity Church of the Nazarene.

Raymond would greet everybody with a warm smile; he was always laughing and sharing jokes and stories.  Often leaning into some one saying, "listen" or "get this." Raymond was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, he is loved and missed.

Raymond is survived by wife, Donna Lucile (Myer) Pelz of 24 years; children, Greg (Shelly) Pelz of Fort Wayne, Rhonda (Chris) Freeman of Hoagland, Chris (Dee) Pelz of Fort Wayne and Robin (Charles) Blomeke of Fort Wayne; step children, MaDonna (Erick) Butler of Fort Wayne and Paula Brown of Bluffton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brothers in law, Larry (Beth) Myer of Greentown, Indiana and Gene Myer of VanBuren, Indiana.

Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann (Selvage) Pelz, in 1991; and grandsons, Nicholas and Alex.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastors Tim Miller and Terry Habegger.   He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society, Disabled American Veterans or Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene.
