Rex Dean Allen, 79, passed Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Cedars.  Born in Wells County, he was a son to the late Russell James Allen and Martha Marie (Edris) Allen.  Rex was working for Viant as a machinist and had worked for Magnavox.  He was a member of The Chapel.  Rex liked old cars, gardening and he especially loved his Disney vacations with his wife and family.

Rex is survived by wife of 45 years, Julie K (Huffman) Allen; children, Teresa Ann (Steve) Irven, Stanley, Sr. (Dorothea) Allen, Rhonda (Gary) Spaulding, Sondra (Jim) Beard and Robert Allen; brother, Bill Allen; 11 grandchildren, Stanley Allen, Jr., Jonathan (Jess) Allen, Chrystal Beard, Colin Beard, Hayley Spaulding, Cameron Spaulding, Kristen Spaulding, Melissa (Dave) Didier, Jennifer (Theo) VanAntwerp, Andrew Freeman and Zachary Freeman; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Monet Allen, Ellie Mae Allen and Aaliyah Michelle Allen.

Rex was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Freeman; siblings, Jim Allen, Norma Baller, and Tom Allen.

Funeral service is 11 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2020, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior.  Officiating will be Pastor Ken Hogg.  Calling is also 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the funeral home.  He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association, 6324 Constitution Dr., Fort Wayne, IND  46804
