Obituary

Richard "Dick" Baxter, 80, passed from death to life and entered the presence of his Savior on  May 17, 2021. Born in Decatur, IN He was the son of Clifford and Ellen Baxter.  He married Ruth (Landes) Baxter, she preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He worked at Taylor University for nearly 40 years in Christian service, Taylor World Outreach, Student Association vice president and on the Youth Conference steering committee. Following the campus transition, he was appointed as associate dean for the TUFW campus. For many years he and his wife, Ruth served in a ministry to the people of Jamaica. He made over 29 trips to Jamaica. In 2012 he co-founded Jamaica Up River. He loved going to Jamaica and ministering to the people there. He made lifelong friends many who were in contact with him up to the end. He was looking forward to going down in October. He loved to cook and was an Amazing chef. There are many people who will miss his cooking. He liked computers and anything electronic. More than anything he liked to meet new people and catch up with old friends. I'm sure he is getting reacquainted with people from the past and being with Ruth.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Scott Baxter and sister, Elaine Eme .

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth, and brothers, David, Doug and Ronald Baxter.
