Richard Loyd Beltz, 94, passed Friday, June 30, 2017. Born in Allen County he was one of two sons to the late, Harry and Eula (Scott) Beltz. He served his country in the Army during WWII. Richard retired from GTE and then started volunteering with Aboite Township Fire Dept. for over 30 years. He was a member of Trier Ridge Community Church.

He is survived by his sons, David (Candy) Beltz of Wolcottville and Ben (Deana) Beltz Columbia City; four grandchildren, Adam, Brian, Logan and Faith; and two great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Mary Ellen Beltz; and a brother, Paul Beltz.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior to the service. Pastor Jeff Berry of Stroh Church of God will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to the Aboite Township Fire Dept.
