Richard A. "Dick" Merrill 81, died Sunday June 18, 2017. He was born in Ft. Wayne on November 8, 1935 to the late Ray and Catherine Merrill. Dick was a graduate of Elmhurst High School and retired after 37 years as a forklift driver for the Kresge Corp. He was a rifle instructor at Elmhurst and was in the Marine Reserves for 8 years.

Surviving are his children, Eric (Lynn) Merrill, Tammy (Kevin) Sanders, Phillip Merrill, sister, Joan Marchant, 6 grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Wade, Brock, Amy, Jansen and 3 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Cora, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2016 and his son Michael and a grandson Brandon along with 2 siblings, Max and Doris Merrill.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorial are to Visiting Nurse and City of Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control (Hillegas Road).
