Richard Nevin Kilpatrick, 91, passed on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Hospice Home. The WWII Navy veteran was a graduate of South Side High School; holding the high jump record for more than 20 years. He went on to Purdue to get his mechanical engineering degree. He also taught Geometry at Central High. Richard retired from Phelps Dodge Corp after 32 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and an usher.

He is survived by his children, Brian, Keith (Kay) Kilpatrick, Lori (Bruce) Kilpatrick and Lisa (Kyle) Burns all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Courtney, Shawn and Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Lois Ruth (Wass) Kilpatrick, in 2008; son, Jason Kilpatrick, 1987; parents, Clayton and Fannie (Hagerty) Kilpatrick; brothers, Keith and Clayton; sisters, Nedra Langas and Mary Potts.

Funeral Service is 1 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior to service. Chaplain Mike Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Hospice Home.
