Richard L. Knittle, 88, of Fort Wayne passed away March 16, 2022.  He was born December 23, 1933 in Van Wert, Ohio to the late Horace and Cecil (Ireland) Knittle.

Following high school, Richard joined the United States Army and served briefly during the Korean War.  For 34 years, he worked as store manager, then later as auditing district manager for G. C. Murphy Co. in Fort Wayne.  He was a lovable man who never complained about anything.  His hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping, and especially Fort Wayne Komets hockey.  Richard treasured the family trips he took to St. Pete beach in Florida; and he could never be bothered between the hours of 7:00 - 8:00pm because it was time for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune!  He loved his family, both natural and "adopted" and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Richard will be forever remembered by his siblings, Marjorie Rhoades, Gordon (Sonja) Knittle, and Dennis (Shelley) Knittle; his Fort Wayne "family", Herb and Lisa Peters, their children, Jason, Leia, Christopher, Amber, Joshua, and Lauren; and their 12 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Mille, Naomi Van Doren, William Knittle, and Kenneth Knittle.

Family will receive friends Monday, April 4 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804, with funeral to follow at 1:00pm.  Military honors will be presented graveside.
