Richard Charles Schaefer, Sr., 77, died peacefully, Saturday, April 9, 2016. Born in Fort Wayne he was the son of the late Kenneth and Leone Schaefer. He proudly served his country in the Army and then enlisted in the Reserves. Richard was a courier for Millers Delivery service and was a Postal Mail Carrier.

He is survived by his children, Richard, Jr. (Nicole), Dennis (Tina Marie), Peggy A. Marschand, Mary L. (Tim) Wilson, John, Andy (Carla), Kim (David) Robbins, Jerry (Pam), Ed (Jennifer), Kevin, Kathy (Andy) Najib and Michael Schaefer; sister, Ayn Marie Schaefer; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jennifer Browning, (Spencer, Hadden & Hayley), Rennae Schaefer, (Eriq, Jonny & Alexis), Rodney Schaefer, Cassandra Michael, (Ethan, Ames & Mathis), Kelli Wilson, Joshua, Montana Geoffery, Susan Ware (Skye, Alexis, Elijah, Kalissa, Owen), Patricia Lambert, (Xandra & Ethan), Samantha Ware, (Wyatt & Piper), Brad Ware, (Xavier), Jason, Allen, Kaitlyn, Cole Schaefer, Grace & Emmerson, Zackory Schaefer, Vanessa Schultz, (with Lila on the way), Allyssa, Allyson, Skylar & Yasin, Christopher, Aaron & Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Agnes (Heinkel) Schaefer, in 1988.

Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m., April 15, 2016 St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
