Obituary

Robert E. Blomeke, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at Parkview Hospital. Born in Kendallville, Indiana, he was a veteran in the Korean War. While he was at Hillsdale College he had played basketball, baseball and track. He then went on to teaching and coaching at Pioneer and Bellevue Schools in Ohio for 10 years. He was a Salesman at Main Auto Sport Shop for 13 years and then he retired from Kaman Bearing after 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and also a member of the American Legion Post 330. He enjoyed playing golf and watching baseball and his favorite pastime was being with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, M. Joan Blomeke; six children, Tony (Carol) Blomeke of Fort Wayne, Lisa (Ed) Shirey of Harlan, Tammy (Javier) Bedolla of New Haven, Canda (Ron) Goldwood of Columbia City, Lesley (Donnie) Wasson of Fort Wayne, Charles (Robin) Blomeke of Fort Wayne; sister, Lora Lee Gorsuch of Albion; 16 grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsay, Tom, Adam, Javier, Brianna, Jeremy, Joshua, Jonathan, Kayla, Branden, Madison, Chris, Jim, Dawn and Tracey; and 14 great grandchildren, Preston, Tegyan, Peyton, Ethan, Alisah, T.J., Sienna, Alexia, Ben, Emma Jane, Jacob, Zachariah, Brook and Brock.
Service is 10 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to Hillsdale College or New Haven United Methodist Church.
