Obituary

Robert Martin Hine, 95, died on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Coventry Meadows. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Township Whitley County, son of the late Gustave A. Hine and Myra (Hae) Hine. Robert worked at Coil Eng., in Roanoke and Dana of Fort Wayne for 33 1/2 years. He liked gardening, mowing and the Colts, Indiana basketball, and senior tours. Robert served in the Army 4 1/2 years in the 192nd Headquarters company and 38th Cyclone division, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other metals from New Guinea and Philippines. He was a member of American Legion Post 160 Roanoke and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcene Anne (McCaughey) Hine; daughter, Cheryl Hine;; son, Edward (Cindy) Hine; grandson, Kevin Hine; sister, Genevieve Frazier; brother, John (Evelyn) Hine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Saturday. April 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 North Main Street, Roanoke, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m. Fr Dale Bauman will be officiating. He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens with military honors. Preferred memorial are to the Church Building Fund.
