Robert Pio Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023 at his home in Avon Park, FL.  Bob was born on February 27, 1944 to the late Robert Sr. and Lela (Thornhill) Pio in Norwood, MO while his father was completing basic training at Fort Leonard during WW2.  He grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, and graduated from South Side High School.  Bob went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1968-1970.  Bob was stationed in Fort Hood, TX and honorably discharged.  Bob worked the majority of his career at Tokheim Corporation and EaglePicher before retiring.  He also spent countless hours working in the family's neighborhood grocery store, Pio Meat Market, which his mom and dad ran for 30 years.  Bob moved to Florida full time in 2016 to help care for his mother after Robert Sr passed.  He was a loving son, devoted brother, and selfless father who routinely put the needs of others before his own well-being.  His love of corvettes never faded and he was fortunate enough to own one in 1963 and again in 2020. Bob is survived by his children Heather Bible, Donna Beck, Joe Wallace, Kevin Pio, and Jeff Pio; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and sister Deborah (Kenneth) Hirsekorn. He was predeceased by son Brian, daughter Auriel, and two grandchildren Gary and Dylan. A service celebrating Bob's life will be held at 12noon August 23rd, 2023 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with calling one hour prior at 11am.  An onsite reception lunch will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice House, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring FL 33870 in memory of Robert Pio Jr.
