Obituary

Robert George Olbin
November 8, 1988- June 6, 2022

Robert G. Olbin (Rob), 33, passed away tragically on June 6, 2022. He was born to G. Scott Olbin and the late Jill G. Olbin on November 8, 1988 in Tempe, Arizona. Rob was known for being charismatic, the life of the party, deeply caring, and a comedian who always made people laugh.

Rob graduated from Homestead High School in 2007. He was most recently employed at Reelcraft Industries as a CNC machinist. He also had numerous jobs in the past, working as a chef at restaurants such as Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Wings & Ribs, and Parkview. One of his passions was cooking, and he loved sharing his tasty creations with the many people whom he spent time with over the years. Sports were also a big part of his life, and he went through the rollercoaster that comes with being a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Wildcats. He enjoyed the camaraderie of playing poker and fantasy sports among his friends and family. He was also the king of giving people nicknames that stuck with each person for years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jill G. Olbin, grandparents Robert and Carol Goshert, George and Lorrayne Olbin, and his cousin, Erik Olbin.

Rob is survived by his father George "Scott" Olbin, brother Ryan (Jessica) Olbin, niece and nephew Harper and Miles (Olbin), sister Shannon (Tim) Decker, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rob brought joy to everyone he was around and touched many people's lives with his jovial spirit. He loved his family and friends deeply. He was taken too soon in this life, but by knowing Rob we believe he made each of us a better person.

A viewing and gathering time with the family will occur on Wednesday June 15th, 2022 from 3-5. The funeral services will be held following visitation at 5pm at The Chapel, 2505 West Hamilton Road South in Fort Wayne, Indiana with Pastor Rick Hawks.
