IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Virgil Howell
April 12, 1960 – October 4, 2019
Robert "Bob" Virgil Howell, 59, lost his year long battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer early Friday morning October 4, 2019. He went peacefully at the Hospice Home.
Bob was born in Fort Wayne, April 12, 1960. He was an only child to the late Robert Dewey Howell and JoAnn Marilyn (Sergeant) Howell. Bob was a 1978 graduate of South Side High School. His dad would not let him play high school football, so he lettered in Tennis, Golf and Track. Immediately after graduation he left to serve his country in the US Army for 6 years. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri with a 2 year tour in Germany.
Prior to his illness Bob worked for Steel Dynamics in Columbia City for 5 years in the shipping Department as a Rail Haul Truck Driver. He also worked delivering concrete for several companies. Bob is probably best known as the "Bud Man" when he delivered beer for Aalco Distributing for many years.
Bob was an outdoorsman. In his free time you could probably find him playing golf, fishing, shooting his bow or hunting. He also loved to tinker in his garage, listen to old time country music and throw back some cold ones with friends.
Bob is survived by wife of 29 years, Tina Marie (Larimore) Howell; daughter, Amanda "Mandy Jo" Howell of Fort Wayne; son, Samuel Francis Howell of Fort Wayne; his special fur babies, Maggie and Bandit; and grand pup, Gunner; also surviving is his aunt, Patricia Borgwardt; and a number of cousins.
The family would like to "Thank all the Special Friends and Family who were there for us during this battle". Also, "A Special Thanks to the staff of Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology, Hospice Home and Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana".
Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2019 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse and Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
