Obituary

Robert Wayne Deetz, 81, passed Tuesday, December 17, 2019.  Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Willis K. Deetz and Mildred I. (Shultz) Deetz.  Bob retired from International Harvester after 40 years of service and had worked at Sears in the Automotive Dept for over 25 years. He was a past secretary for the IFPTE Local 137.  Bob was a devoted member and enjoyed singing in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodburn.  He watched auto racing and all Purdue sports, he loved to fish and hunt; earlier in life, he golfed.

Bob is survived by children, James "Jim" Deetz of Fort Wayne, Julie (Steve) Kahn of Roanoke, Jenny (Clem) Bowser of New Haven and Janice Muldoon of New Haven; daughter in law, Lisa; brother, Tom (Shirley) Deetz; sister, Peggy Springer; 9 grandchildren, Chase Deetz, Miranda Kahn, Holly Kahn, Logan Kahn, Emily Strimple, Errin (Josh) Lijewski, Ethan (Hayley) Bowser, Joseph Muldoon and Jessica Muldoon; and two great-granddaughters, Kiara Leigh Kahn and Layla Rose Earnest.

Bob was preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn Striggle and Nancy Gordon; brother, Larry Deetz.

Funeral Service is 11 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2019, Zion Lutheran Church, 7616 Bull Rapids Road, Woodburn, with calling one hour prior.  Officiating will be Rev. Tim B. Zechiel.  Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church.  He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church.
