Roger L. Waggoner, 86, of Columbia City, IN, was called home to his heavenly father April 4. 2025 after a short battle with congestive heart failure and renal failure. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN to Ellis and Lillian Waggoner. He graduated from Central High School and the Fort Wayne Police Academy and also, received training from the FBI. He was honorably discharged from the Indiana Army National Guard and the Army Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post 0160. He worked seven years at GTE as a construction lineman. He was a police officer and retired as a patrol sergeant in 1984 after twenty years of service. He worked in private security for twenty years after retiring from the Fort Wayne Police Department. He was also employed by Securitas Security Services U.S.A. as security supervisor at Frontier Communications and retired in April, 2013. He married the love of his life, Julie Waggoner in 1976 and had a beautiful marriage for 49 years. He was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church. Above all, he loved the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Julie; sons, Rick and Gary; nieces, Cheri Knake, Tamara Amberg and Kim Rushing. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah K. Waggoner; brother, Richard; and his parents. A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, April 14, 2025 officiated by Pastor Gary Lovens, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
