Ronald "Ron" Douglas Howenstine, 57, was called home to Jesus on November 2.  He was born on April 10th, 1964 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Harry "Lee" Howenstine and Lillian Howenstine.

Ron spent his years in Fort Wayne. He worked numerous jobs, from restaurants to maintenance. He spent many years working for Advanced Mixer in the 1980s and 1990s where he met many important people in his life. He enjoyed working with his hands, spending time with family (and friends that were family) and turning trash into treasure. Ron loved Jesus and always wanted to show the love of Christ through everything he did.  He always found a reason to share laughs. He loved the holidays when everyone gathered together and worked on many different cars throughout the years. He will be remembered by his family and many friends for his huge heart, ability to fix anything, and the willingness to help anyone. Everyone he knew was family; he never knew a stranger. He had so much love in his heart for everyone in his life. He was a proud father and grandfather to his two daughters and granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Howenstine.

He is survived by his father: Harry "Lee" Howenstine; siblings: Lana (Dave) Ford, Rick (Carol) Howenstine, Randy (Dawn) Howenstine, Amy (Ryan) Schiltz; his children: Randi Howenstine (Greg Brown), and Liberty "Libby" Howenstine; granddaughter: Genevieve "Eve" Howenstine; loving companion: Colette Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

"I'm ready to go home."

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, November 8 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.  Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 9 at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior, also at Covington Memorial.
