Rev. Roy Lee Ayers, 76, completed his journey on October 8, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Roy was born September 21, 1938 in Huntsville, AL to the late James and Narella Ayers. Roy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was an active member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church.

He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his wife of 57 years, Eliza Ayers, his daughters, Georgia Ummil (Earle II) Franklin, Queen (Art) Ayers-Ethel, Shirley Ervin Ayers, Ella J. Ayers, Brenda "Blondie" Ayers, his sons, Roy W. (Alicia R.), Dennis L., David C. (LaTrina) , and Edgar C. Ayers, 29 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers and 7 sisters along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Service will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday October 14 at Jerusalem Baptist Church 1141 Francis St. with calling one hour prior to service. There will be calling at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. on Monday October 13. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
