Roy E. Treace, 70, born on January 24, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on May 20, 2026, in his hometown of Fort Wayne. He was a dedicated machinist at Trelleborg, where his skills earned him several awards, reflecting his hard work and sharp expertise.
Roy’s passions were diverse and vibrant. He enjoyed barbecuing and smoking meat and had a love for both food and sweets. He enjoyed hunting and guns. An avid traveler, he especially enjoyed visiting National Parks, with the Sequoia Trees holding a special place in his heart. Roy had a fondness for tractors and enjoyed going to the races and loved his cat, Mooch. His love of metalworking showcased another dimension of his talents. Throughout his life, Roy remained a very hard worker and was known for his intelligence and deep love as a husband, father, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dawn, and their children, Eric Treace and Laura Treace, along with one cherished grandson. Roy also leaves behind siblings Shirley Anne McClure, Becky (Ivan) Graves, Edgar (Vonda) Treace, Dixie (Don) Cole, Cameo Moody, his twin brother Roger (Jolinda) Treace and Rochelle (Mike) Alexander.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Sr. and Shirley Treace, and his brothers Sherman Jr. and Michael Treace.
Family, friends, and those who knew Roy are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on May 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Roy’s memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the legacy of dedication, kindness, and skill he leaves behind.
