Ruby L. Griner, 96, of Fort Wayne passed away October 29. She was born December 25, 1924 in Commerce, Georgia to the late James Jackson and Nancy Vera (Barnett) Slaton.

Ruby grew up in Commerce and began her working career at Bluebell where she was a seamstress. She moved to Indiana and went to work for Valspar Paint Factory. She was a hard worker and even spent time as a union representative; she remained there until she retired. In 1973 she married her husband, Robert "Bob" Griner, and they were together for 42 years until his passing in 2015. Ruby was a longtime member of Calvary Chapel - Gospel Community Church in Fort Wayne. She loved her family and had all her walls filled with their photographs.  Genealogy was a passion, and she put together 3 books of her family history and donated copies to the Fort Wayne Library. Ruby and Bob were avid travelers, having visited every state in the union; including Alaska and Hawaii.  Also Canada, Mexico, Germany and France.  Above all, Ruby deeply loved her family and valued her friends.

Ruby will forever be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jim Rogers, her grandchildren James (Christyn) Hawthorne III "Jim 3", and Melissa McKim; "adopted" grandson, Adam Moyer; great grandchildren, Remington, Hudson, Aaliyah, Malakai and Solomon; step children, Cindy (Beth) Mack, and Vicky (Rob) Tucker and Daniel Griner; step grandchildren, Nathan, Melanie (Sam), Matthew (Mariah), Daniel, Stacy, Tonya, and Jordan; step great grandchildren, Collin, Ben, Hailee, Savannah, Colton, Dom and Danny.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Bob, Ruby was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Jones; step children, Barb, Don, and step grandson, Chris.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm - 7:00pm Friday, November 5 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.  Funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday, November 6, also at Covington Memorial, with visitation one hour prior.
