Obituary

Sanders "Ray" McClure was born April 8, 1940, in Mayflower, Arkansas to the late Helen Roebuck and Roscoe McClure.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, Ray passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He professed his faith in God at an early age.

He retired from General Motors after 35 years in 1993. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends and telling stories.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patricia McClure; sisters, Barbara Saunders, Ora L. Pace, Helen Faye Pace, Brenda Laws, Jacqueline Pace, Loressa (Carnell) Smith; brothers, Ricky Pace, Marquette Pace, LaShawn Pace; sons, Mark (Mary) McClure, Pete (Lynda) McClure, Cedric (Tom) McClure, Ron (Crystal) Weber, Paul (Felicia) Weber; daughters, Cassandra Malone, Jamie (Antonio) Hamlet, Cynthia (Eric) Johnson, Bernistine McClure-Webb, Jessica (Joe) Till; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Pace and Roscoe McClure; step-father, Jessie Pace; brothers, Joe Ray Pace and Freddie Pace and daughter, Anaree Morrison.

A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Avalon Missionary Church, 1212 Lower Huntington Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46819. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. also at the church.

Entombment will take place in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice in his memory.
