Sandy Auman, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on August 24, 2026, following a battle with cancer. She was born on November 14, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to John and Velma Rehrer.

Sandy married the love of her life, Jim Auman, on June 17, 1966. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage, raising their two daughters and building a life filled with family, friendships, and countless memories.

Sandy was a loving mother to Taunie and Stephanie, and a proud grandmother to Zach, Isaac, and Ruth. Her family was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughters, Taunie Benvenutti and Stephanie (Joe) Magsam; her grandchildren, Zach, Isaac, and Ruth; her siblings, Kay Vogel, Randy Rehrer, Susan (Todd) Breland, and Doug (Lois) Rehrer; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Neil (Susie) Rehrer, and her parents, John and Velma Rehrer.

Sandy retired from Smith-Green Community Schools. Retirement gave her more time to enjoy the things she loved most, including cooking, gardening, quilting, and, above all, socializing with family and friends. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending time with those she loved.

Beginning in 2004, Sandy and Jim spent their winter months in southern Texas. Over the years, they developed many lasting friendships there and came to think of Texas as a special part of their lives. Those friendships and memories became an important part of Sandy's retirement years.

Sandy will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, her creativity, and her enjoyment of good food, conversation, and companionship. She leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will continue to live on through her family and the many people whose lives she touched.

A service celebrating Sandy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 9251 East State Road 205, Churubusco, Indiana 46723, on Saturday, August 29th, followed by visitation time with the family.
