Sandra Kay Hobbs, 56, of Fort Wayne died, July 9, 2014 at home. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late, Walter E. Hobbs and Marjorie J. (Willett) Hobbs. She was a member of Woodburn United Methodist Church and was the current president of the UMWA. Sandy was a Heritage High School Graduate. She worked for Eagle Picher Plastics an executive secretary and purchasing agent for 20 years; then was currently working as an administrative assistant with Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home for the last 10 years. Sandy''s battle with breast cancer did not slow her down she was a volunteer for Relay for Life and helped anyone who needed. Her zest of life is what will be remembered along with the love that she showed her family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard (LuAnn) Hobbs of Huntington, James (Penny) Hobbs of Waterloo and Walter, Jr. (Patsy)Hobbs of Fort Wayne; sisters, Margo Tester and Susan Pierce both of Fort Wayne; several nieces and nephews; and the great nieces and nephews that she adored as if they were her own.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
