Sigrid Heidi (Geiger) Rothgeb, 79, of Fort Wayne passed away November 11 peacefully surrounded by her family.  She was born May 31, 1942 in Kaiserslautern, Germany to the late Anita Geiger.

When Sigrid was a girl in Germany, her mother met Gerald Douglas, a young American soldier, and married him.  He brought his new family back to the United States and raised Sigrid and her sister, Helga, as his own.  Sigrid soon became an "All-American" girl, graduating high school and then beginning her life.  She married Marion Rothgeb and together they raised two boys.  Sigrid was a homemaker, but once the boys were out on their own, she went to volunteer at Parkview Hospital for 20 years.  Sigrid will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Sigrid is survived by her ex-husband, Marion; sons, Brian and Jay; granddaughter, Charlee; sister, Helga (Steve) Fortmeyer; and nephews, Scott and Fred.

Family will receive friends from 12:30pm - 1:30pm Monday, November 22 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8404 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana  46804, with service to follow at 1:30pm.
